Core Duties and Responsibilities

- Management and Governance: Serves as the administrative body to handle routine business affairs between monthly membership meetings.
- Financial Oversight: Authorizes expenditures, reviews financial reports, and ensures a balanced budget.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensures the Post operates according to federal, state, and local laws, and American Legion policies, including necessary bonding/insurance for personnel handling funds.
- Hiring and Staffing: Hires or authorizes the employment of staff necessary for running the Post.
- Committee Oversight: Receives and reviews reports from various Post committee chairpersons.
- Filling Vacancies: Appoints members to fill vacancies in office or within the committee itself for unexpired terms.
Meeting and Operational Procedures
- Regular Meetings: Meets as often as the Post Commander deems necessary, or on a set cadence.
- Authority Limits: The committee manages the Post within the budget established by the general membership and cannot override the will of the general membership meetings.
- Transparency: All Post meetings are open to members, though they serve as observers during Executive Committee meetings.
